A coalition of students in Anambra State has allegedly contributed ₦10,735,500 towards securing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expected 2027 presidential nomination form under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The students, said to be beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), stated that the student loan initiative introduced by the administration positively transformed their lives and restored hope for many Nigerian youths.
The disclosure was made during an event held at the ETF Hall of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), located at the Igbariam campus.
The initiative was led by Ifeanyichukwu Chukwuemeka, the Chairman of the NANS Joint Campus Council in Anambra State.
He explained that the contribution was intended as a “symbolic gesture of appreciation” for President Tinubu’s reforms in the education sector.
Other prominent individuals highlighted in the reports include:
- Okoye Mathew Okpala, former Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Student Affairs, was named as one of the coordinators behind the mobilisation effort.
- Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, who received commendation from the students for his contributions as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boys Movement.
- Nonso Ozoemena, the State Coordinator of the group, was applauded for promoting leadership development among young people.
The student bodies also disclosed plans to mobilise over 20,000 youths across the South-East region in support of Tinubu’s possible 2027 presidential ambition.
Impact of the NELFUND initiative
The student leaders described the student loan initiative as one of the most beneficial policies introduced by the present administration.
According to them, the scheme has provided relief for many students who were on the verge of abandoning their studies because of rising school fees and the increasing cost of living, enabling them to remain in school and complete their education.
By late 2025 and early 2026, the Federal Government had reportedly expanded the programme on a much larger scale.
