Big Brother Naija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya was rescued by police in the early hours of Saturday after a distressing video of her allegedly being assaulted by her father circulated widely on social media, triggering a swift public outcry and police response.
In the footage, broadcast live on Instagram, Odiniya was seen on the floor with visible swelling on her face, crying and repeatedly appealing for help. A man, subsequently identified as her father, Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya, was captured striking her during the livestream.

“Come and open the door, I want to be going,” she said at one point. Moments later, she screamed, “Please come and help me.”
The video spread rapidly across social media platforms, prompting widespread calls for law enforcement to intervene. Members of the public, including fans of the reality TV star, urged the police to act before the situation escalated further.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed that a patrol team from the Wuye Division, supported by operatives from the Department of Operations, was dispatched to Royal Anchor Estate in Wuye, Abuja, following the incident. FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the Command’s spokesperson was also present to monitor the operation.
According to the police, officers arrived at the residence at approximately 2:30 a.m. to find the gate locked. Several attempts were made before access to the compound was secured.
“Ms. Ilebaye was found with visible bruises and was rescued alongside her brothers,” the police statement read. “They were subsequently taken to the NNPC Hospital in Abuja for medical attention.”
Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya has since been taken into custody. The FCT Police Command says investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The case has drawn renewed public attention to the issue of domestic violence in Nigeria, and calls are growing for accountability and justice for the reality TV star.
